Jewelry & Jeans: A Sweater with a Twist and Pearls & Why I'm Not Doing Resolutions

A Sweater with a Twist and Pearls & Why I'm Not Doing Resolutions

Wednesday, January 3, 2018

Starting off the new year with a twist.  The hunter green with pearl accent type.  I'm not the resolution type. I feel like each year I'm left with a list of things that didn't really get accomplished and I hate the feeling of not completing what I set out to do.  If I can't cross something off my to-do list it drives me mad!! OCD much. So this year I decided to do things a little different.

The problem with resolutions is that you never really know what the year ahead has in store.  You can't control much of the ups and downs that occur and as a result you have to be flexible.  Go with the flow, change, adapt, evolve.  Sure I can write down that I want to hike in Yosemite more or travel with Kevin to new places but LIFE.  Real life happens.  We have two little kids, we have two new Butterfish locations opening. We have countless other pulls on our time, attention, bank account.

So rather than setting a wish list or goals that can't be accomplished, I am striving to rest my faith more in God.  To be grateful and thankful for where I am at, where we are as a family, where our business goes.  I am seeking to be content, happy with what I have and where I'm headed.  To be open to the doors HE provides for me and confident that the path I am on is the right one.  To not try to control or plan as much because in the end its not really up to me.  Be present in the now, in the good and bad.  To be aware.  Whether that means being a more attentive wife, a more playful mom, a more considerate friend or more understanding boss. I want to strive to incorporate those habits into 2018 with grace and love.

Whether you're a resolution writer or goal setter or let the chips fall where they may type, I wish you all the best on a wonderful year.  May God continue to bless you.
