Jewelry & Jeans: Fresh Faced {Foundation Review}

Fresh Faced {Foundation Review}

Makeup is something I've always loved but have not always been good at.  In fact, I was down right terrible.  I never knew the power of eyebrows, I thought lining my lips with a completely darker shade looked good and I never set my foundation.  These are just a few of the mistakes I made. After trial and error and lots of learning (you-tube is my go-to and I love me some Jaclyn Hill!) I've grown a deeper appreciation and think I've improved a lot.  I don't have the best skin so I've had to learn quickly what would be best for me.  With texture issues and dark spots I need some miracle foundation so, today I'm sharing a review of the various foundations I use regularly. Plus, one of my favorite beauty retailers is having a huge sale now through November 14th for all VIB members. Don't miss out, SHOP HERE.

My favorite all time, full coverage foundation is Estee Lauder's Double Wear.  It buildable for extra coverage but doesn't feel too heavy. It holds up all day and does well for combination skin. When I want to look my best, this is the foundation I grabbed.  I'm so impressed with how far a little goes and it's a reasonable price point.

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation is my go-to everyday foundation.  Its medium coverage but can be used to build into fuller coverage.  It's very lightweight on the skin and doesn't dry out my skin at all. There are 40 different shades so you are bound to find a perfect match for your skin color.

Bobby Brown Skin Foundation is a long wear, full coverage foundation. This is a heavier weight foundation and does do a good job of coverage.  When I feel a little more on the oily side this is the foundation I go to since it tends to dry me out a bit otherwise. It works well to cover blemishes or dark spots but can begin to look cakey if you have a heavy hand when applying.

For my quick 5 minute makeup routine I just grab my Tarte Tinted Moisturizer. It's more of a lightweight and light coverage foundation but has some SPF so it is great for those days when I want a little support but I'm not in need of a full face of makeup. Tarte only carries this in 4 shades so, I have both the fair and the medium colors which I blend together on my fingers for a custom match.

My favorite tools for applying foundation are my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki and my Beauty Blender. I am a big fan of Sigma brushes thanks to Jacklyn Hill and think the F80 is great for seamlessly blending all foundation.  I reserve the blender for my under eye cream and concealer but if my skin is more on the dry side I will wet the blender and use that to add some needed moisture to my foundation. I live by my neutrogena moisturizer and face wash.  I have literally been using these products for over 20 years and they are great.  They cleanse, moisturize without causing my skin to break out or be too oily and the price point can't be beat.
