Friday Favorites - June 17th

Friday, June 17, 2016

Happy Friday Everyone! Its been another crazy week here on our end. We have been so lucky with a week of amazing weather.  The high yesterday was only 81! That's kind of unheard of for Fresno. Next Tuesday its supposed to be 109 if that gives you a frame of reference.

We definitely spent time outside this week including a fun night out with a bunch of our friends at a place called Gazebo Gardens.  Its a nursery that opens up in the evenings with food trucks and a beer garden. It is very family friendly and the kids love to run around and throw rocks look at the fish in the ponds.

Summer prints have me all heart eyes lately. Anything tropical like palm leaves are a must and I snagged this cute dress for under $25.  Its one of those easy to wear, goes with any occasion type of dresses. A full post is coming soon but I couldn't help but share.

Our master bathroom is seriously in need of an update. The 90's called and they want their tile counters, peach oak colored cabinets and brass accents back.  I'd love nothing more than to give it ALL back but the reality is we don't have it in the budget. So, not long ago I decided to at least chalk paint the cabinets since that was an easy and inexpensive way to update and refresh the space.  I think it made a world of a difference. We choose a taupeish-grey color that matched the grout color and worked well with the existing finishes.  For a while now I've been looking to grab new bath mats to compliment the new cabinets but nothing quite worked. I stumbled upon these blue mats that have a grey undertone just yesterday.  The contrast of the blue works well and the undertone of grey in the mats balance with the undertone of grey in the cabinet.  Since we used to have tan colored mats this addition has brought in a much needed dose of color and transformed the space.

I hate spending money on household essentials but I am finding enjoyment out of this bathroom being a more pleasing space. What do you think? Do they work?

You can shop the whole bathroom look below, the mats linked come up purple but they come in multiple colors including the blueish grey we got.

If you follow bloggers like I do you are probably aware there is a strong blogger presence in TX, particularly Houston. They get together to have social events, mingle and support one another. It's pretty amazing. My friend Annie from www.therealhousewifeoffresno.com, Christina from www.thepatricos.com and I have been determined to create something similar or at least try here in town. Our goal is to connect with other women who have a passion for their craft and support one another.

Not long ago we reached out to other bloggers we knew personally and started connecting. Just last night we Annie organized a happy hour social event where we could all meet in person, have some cocktails and appetizers and bounce ideas off each other.  We each have our own strong suits and we each have areas where were are lacking.  The idea behind this was to encourage and assist each other.  Its hard enough to keep up with all the latest social media trends or changing algorithms, we don't need to recreate the wheel.  Instead we should be lifting each other up and offering assistance when possible. Last night was a lot of fun and I look forward to getting to connect with these awesome ladies.  Check out my Instagram for more details about them soon.
