How to Choose The Best Nude Pumps

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Pump, pump, pump it up with the best nude pumps because every closet should have at least one pair.  I can't count how many pairs I've gone through or how many styles.  Neutral pumps are a must because you can literally wear them with every outfit but finding the right one can be challenging.  There are so many styles, finishes, heights, it can become overwhelming.  Sharing some points for choosing your next pair of great nude pumps.

There are so many shades of neutral. Some have a more pink undertone, others yellow.  Depending on the look you're after and your skin tone you'll have to narrow down your color.  The ones I'm wearing HERE have more of a pink undertone. They're great for use with blush tones, whites and nudes.  I also have a very light pair with yellow tones.  I find I, personally, gravitate more towards the pinker ones. They go with more styles.

The next important aspect is the finish of the shoe. Leather, patent, satin, perforated, suede.... you get the point.  The list goes on and on, and is almost endless.  Leather and patent leather are the most common. They are both universally flattering and classic.  You will always find plenty of colors and heel heights in both finishes.  Suede is luxe and very in right now.  Satin is typically something you see for weddings and bridal parties but that doesn't mean you shouldn't own a pair for wearing outside the closed context of nuptials.

Style and heel height round out the last decisions.  Rounded toe, platform, mary jane, V front, D'orsay (my personal favorite).  The V front is the new style taking over this Fall shoe scene. Pointy toes are the most classic and are found in standard fit, D'orsay or semi D'orsay where only one side (usually the inside of the foot) is open where the other side is lined.

A low heel is usually from 1"-2 1/2", medium is 2 1/2"-3 3/4" and high is 4" and above.  Obviously, the lower the heel the more comfortable the shoe but I prefer the look of a higher shoe of about 3 1/2".  It helps elongate the leg, looks great with jeans and is where I am most comfortable.
