Pretty Styles for Summer

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Summer is finally hear and I am loving it.  The weather has been a touch too hot but how else would the water feel so refreshing, right?  Tropical prints (perfect for my up coming vaca), bright colors and bathing suits galore are some of my favorite summer essentials. There is just something about a palm print or hot pink that just grabs my attention.

We put in a pool at our house when we first moved in.  We knew at the time it wasn't the wisest investment but with Fresno being so hot, aka next to the sun, it really wasn't an option.  We use the pool almost daily.  The boys both love the water and ever since we got a solar cover to keep over it when we aren't using it, the temperature has increased substantially and it is now warm enough for me to enjoy 5-6 months out of the year.  It's borderline too hot when we have crazy triple digit heat waves but I'm a real wimp when it comes to cold water.  We also live close to a great lake with amazing friends who are kind enough to take us out.

That being said, swimwear, cover-ups and pretty summer dresses are at the top of my wishlist.  I have compiled some of my favorite swimsuits, kaftans and flowy summer dresses into a summer wishlist.  I just purchased the palm print skirt and the floral one piece and lace tunic are both in my cart now!

High Low Floral Dress with Pink Blush

Saturday, June 24, 2017

We celebrated father's a few days late since I worked at the restaurant on Sunday and wore this pretty little number to do so. We ate at CPK which is perfect for the kiddos and with their revamped menu is super tasty. I die for their veggie salad with added chicken!

I usually get so cold in the summer because I'm wearing light clothing for all the heat but then I walk into a restaurant or store and the air conditioning is pumping so hard I practically freeze to death.  One of the things I love most is that this dress pairs nicely with white or black accessories.  I threw on my fav black wedges and grabbed a lightweight white blazer just in case.

Bright colors always attract me and the combination of colors in this Pink Blush dress definitely caught my eye.  It has a high low hem and is fully lined.  I belted it to really cinch in my waist and give me a very defined shape but it's just as pretty without, giving more of an effortless, flowy feel.  The length is great and the front and back both have identical v shaped cuts. Best part is, its under $50! You can shop this dress HERE.

Orange Ruffle Dress

Dress / Belt / Shoes / Bag

Orange addiction may be an understatement.  Not only am I loving orange right now, I've always loved Victoria Beckham so this dress was a win, win.  Victoria has always been so chic and well put together. I remember reading an article from years ago where she said she only wears heels, that if she ever were to run on a treadmill she'd do it in 4" heels and I can totally see that.  So when I heard that she was collaborating with one of my favorite stores (Target) I knew I had to check out her line.

I got my hands on a few pieces but this one really caught my eye.  The one shoulder, bow accent and ruffle hem get it such a flirty, feminine feel that I had to take her home. I sized down and would have even gone two sizes smaller if I could (wearing an XS for reference). This dress definitely runs large and it is cut so that it is more of a shift dress rather than a fit and flare.

When I first tried it one, I wasn't a huge fan.  Too boxy and shapeless.  BUT.... I quickly added a fun belt and I think it may all the difference. The leopard print compliments the strong orange and I paired it with a matching clutch and nude strappy pumps. The dress itself is very well made. Thick fabric, lined and the accents are tailored nicely. It is currently still available in all sizes AND is on major sale NOW!!!

The Best Two Piece Set for Summer

Monday, June 5, 2017

Spent the weekend nursing a sick hubby back to semi-health (day four and he's still not 100%) and now I have a baby that is teething something awful.  To say it's been tough is an understatement but I'm sure worse for them than me.  It wasn't all bad though, I got to hope out on the lake with some of our best friends for a fun day of sun and adult play.  It was a blast and much needed! Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

I found this two piece set last week and have been dying to show it to you guys.  Its one of my favorite outfits this Spring season. I feel like a walking ginger jar and I'm loving it.  The crisp white and contrasting blue are gorgeous and its such a nice loose fit that is perfect for those hot days. I can see myself wearing wedges for a more casual look too. I have definitely been looking for more sets lately because I think that have a fun but put together feel. If you've been searching for some too than I suggest you look into this one! So flattering.
