Paris Chic - {3 Tips For Choosing Timeless Pieces}

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Just about this time last year I was lucky enough to travel with my mom to Paris, France.  While traveling halfway across the world six months pregnant is not the most fun thing to do, the trip itself was wonderful. It was my second time visiting and the people, the architecture, the culture, the food were all just as amazing as the first.  What was even better was the fashion.  Unfortunately, it's super hard to buy clothing with a belly not really knowing how something will fit, but when I spotted this pretty number from Karen Millen I just knew I had to make it work.

Karen Millen has some of the most timeless cuts and on-trend styles. I wanted half of her store but opted for this classic A line black and white dress.  I knew I would have a million places I could wear it and baby or not, the cut would be flattering.

Here are some tips on picking timeless pieces that will work now and years from now
  1. Go for a classic silhouette: An A-line dress or shift dress is a flattering cut on most all bodies, It never goes out of style and can be worn year round.
  2. Choose a simple pattern: A solid color or small pattern is easier to work with in that you can add various accessories to give it new life year after year.  If the pattern is too busy, too large or the color is too bold, it will limit your use.
  3. Choose a good fabric: A good fabric will not only wear better day one, it will last longer down the road. Plus, a heavier fabric tends to have a luxe feel to it so you'll be sure to carry the look with more confidence every time you wear it.

My dress is from last season but HERE are a few Karen Millen looks that I'm totally coveting now and below I've linked a few as well.
