Jewelry & Jeans: May 2016

In Full Bloom

Sunday, May 29, 2016

I have finally put away all my jackets and boots and am arms wide open to accepting the warm summer days.  It didn't hurt that I spotted these, oh so cute, floral shorts.  With two little boys to run around with and chase ALL DAY LONG I live in shorts most of the summer. So, I'm all about anything that helps my legs look longer and if it has a secondary effect of making them look leaner, then sign me up! Here are my tips and tricks for just that.

Friday Favorites- May 27th

Friday, May 27, 2016

Friday couldn't have come sooner this week!  Between two sick kids, one who was sick and teething, a trip to the ER, a huge personal business advancement (more to come on that later) and a husband that was gone on a guys camping trip it has been one exhausting week. I am SOOOO looking forward to

The Perfect Denim Romper

Thursday, May 26, 2016

You say denim romper, I say Yes, Please!!  I think rompers are so cute and when I find a chambray one, its like I've won the lotto.  Rompers aren't the easiest thing for a taller girl to wear.  Most fit better on a petite girl because

Nordstrom Must Haves

I live for a good sale and I love Nordstrom so when those two things come together its like Christmas in May for me!  Here are a few items I've had in my shopping cart....

Lovely in Lace

Monday, May 23, 2016

There is just something so dainty and girly about lace. The pretty little details of lace exude elegance effortlessly.  When I spotted this top I had to grab it.  I recently wore this out for a night out with my husband and friends. I love not only the lace, but the pretty buttons on the back and the little peek-a-boo opening.  The mock neck and trim finish the top perfectly.  I had a hard time deciding which color to choose from but white always captures my attention.

Friday Favorites- May 20th

Friday, May 20, 2016

Another week has come and gone and I can't even tell you where it went!! How do the days pass so quickly? I swear I need more hours in the day or days in the week.  I'll take either or both if its being offered!! Check out my five favorites from this past week below.

I was lucky enough to get to drive over to the central coast to visit one of my best friends, Colleen, who just had her second baby, a boy named Luke.  He is the most precious little guy and didn't make a peep the whole time I was there.  She has an older daughter, Nora, who is so beautiful and very social.  We got to dance and play Lego's together.  Our visits are never long enough but its always so great to catch up. Of course, I got so distracted that I didn't even snap a pic! Grrr

Warm weather calls for short shorts. These blue floral shorts are super cute and fun for summer.  Sometimes I am hesitant to pick up a piece with a colorful pattern unless I know I can match a top to it.  Much to my surprise, I have three different blue tops that go really well with these shorts and of course, white works perfectly.  I see myself living in these all summer long.

Smiling Brilliantly

Nothing is more important than a first impression and your smile, or better yet your teeth, have so much to do with making a positive first impression.  My girlfriend and fellow blogger Annie, from The Real Housewife of Fresno, asked me to join along in a teeth whitening process with Smile Brillant and of course, I said YES!  We had so much fun creating our impressions and are excited to start the process, because who doesn't want whiter teeth!

Fashion Police

Thursday, May 19, 2016

I recently read The Book of Joan by Melissa Rivers about her late mother, Joan Rivers.  I grew up watching Joan Rivers on the Red Carpet interviewing, joking with and criticizing celebrities. Her sharp wit, dry humor and brutal honesty were a refreshing change.  Melissa did a beautiful job

Transitional Staples

Monday, May 16, 2016

Today I'm sharing a transitional look using staple pieces that are already in your closet. Black pants (jeans or slacks), a basic stripped tee and a camel blazer are pieces that can be worn year round and never go out of style.

The first look is great for something like a casual Friday in the office and the second look, using the same staples, could easily work for cocktails after work. Changing just a few elements can make a huge difference and its so simple.

Friday Favorites- May 13th

I hope everyone had a wonderful week and an amazing Mother's Day.  I was spoiled with love by my boys and spent some quality family time together.  It was pretty darn perfect!  I love taking pictures because they truly capture a moment unlike anything else.  Time seems to fly so quickly these days that I look back and can hardly remember events without pictures. So, for Mother's Day I wanted some pictures with my boys.  Its nearly impossible to get us all dressed, feed, and happy at the same time.  Add to that the additional pressure of getting 4 people, including 2 littles, to look at AND smile for the camera, its darn right impractical. But life isn't always perfect and I love the crazy that is our family.  So blessed that I get to be their mommy and this guy's wife.

I love when I can find a good lip product. I love it even more when I find it at the drugstore and it costs less than $10!!  These color rich lip pens are amazing.  I have the lacque-y charm (a great pinky nude) and the lacquerized (a true bright red) and I love them both. They don't feel heavy, go on smooth, are nicely pigmented and last.

I am a taller girl and normally do not get to rock rompers because the fit just isn't flattering.  BUT, I have recently found an adorable romper that I am so in love with! So in love, in fact, I bought it in two colors and would have purchased the third if it was available in my size!! I just wore this with nude wedges to celebrate my friend Dede's birthday.  It is super comfortable, doesn't hike up my behind and didn't make me look like I was 2 weeks post baby so, in my opinion a total win. It is still available on line but super limited in stores.  I've link it and an exact duplicate below just in case.

All three colors are available on line and fully stocked for all sizes Here.

We recently replaced our patio cushions on our patio furniture with these pretty red ones. I love the bright color and am really happy with the choice.  I've been eyeing these fun decorative pillows to go with and think they are not only fun but so appropriate for summer since the color scheme works for Labor Day, 4th of July and Memorial Day.

I have been eyeing a couple of new phone cases this last week but can't seem to decide which one I want.  Each of these are SO. DARN.CUTE. I can't seem to pull the trigger on one.  What do you think?

My White Party

Wednesday, May 11, 2016

I can't begin to tell you how much I've been enjoying the 70's and 80's we've been getting here lately. It feels like most years we jump from winter right into summer (triple digits here!!) without any real transition, so I'm soaking this up.  I spent so much time outdoors this past weekend in this gorgeous off the shoulder dress, with its bell sleeves, eyelet detail and elastic band.  It felt like I wasn't wearing anything and the wide elastic band stays in place so you're not pulling at your dress all day.  I hope this weather stays this way so I can live in this dress! I had my littlest helper with me that day and he was just too cute to not include, so I've included a few BTS pics with B. Unfortunately my dress is temporarily out of stock but I have seen it still in stores.  I linked another below that is similar.

New Obsession- Off Shoulder Tops

Monday, May 9, 2016

Off the shoulder tops are one of this seasons biggest trends and one of my newest obsession.  I grabbed this top before my last girls trip to Vegas a few weeks ago and it was soooo comfy to wear all day.  When traveling I look for both comfort and flexibility. I want something that is effortless but still stylish and this top fit the bill.  I love the ease, the stripes and the tie sleeve details of this top. Plus these wedges are super comfy, definitely a great steal for this spring.

Friday Favorites- May 6th

Friday, May 6, 2016

This week has been a whirl wind with the Luke Bryan Concert, a trip with my little men to visit my parents, the most amazing cinco de mayo celebration hosted by my dear friend Christina and life in general.

The Luke Bryan concert was Saturday night and it was Ah-mazing.  Little Big Town opened for them and were excellent as well.  They even came out and sang with Luke doing his show.  They sang their duet and he even played around singing Girl Crush, one of my favorites!! He was so engaging and playful.  I would definitely see him again.  I wore this look but switched out the booties for my favorite cowboy boots!!

The Met Gala was on Tuesday night and the looks are always very daring.  Some were major hits while others have major misses.  Here are a few of my favorites from the night.

Alessandra Ambrosia
The crochet detail flatters every inch of her body! Not that her body needs any flattering!!

 Kylie Jenner
The picture doesn't do this dress enough justice. If you see her move in it, its stunning.  The bottom has a fringe like effect and it sparkles and shimmers in the most amazing way. Plus, I am totally digging her bob hair style.

Poppy Delevingne
This dress is a little 1920's but definitely modernized and edgy. I love the makeup and hair as well.

Rami Malek
I love that Rami when with a blue suit, and not just a navy blue but a royal blue.  The color really brings out his eyes and the tailoring is impeccable.

With Thursday being Cinco De Mayo, my dear friend Christina from The Patricios hosted the most adorable party.  When she does a party she always decorates ever square inch.  We had delicious food and drinks, celebrated a friends birthday early and, of course, played!!

Weather here has gone from hot to windy, over cast to full on rain.  It's been crazy but I love that I get to rock some of my favorite looks just a little longer. This cold shoulder top is definitely a spring favorite of mine. I did a full blog post on this look HERE

With Mother's Day this weekend I've been doing a little shopping for both the moms in my life and nabbed these adorable pajamas.  They are literally the softest pjs ever! The blue stripes are classic but I also love the coral scroll print. The little lace detail on the bottom trim is so darn sweet!

No Cold Shoulder

Tuesday, May 3, 2016

The cold shoulder trend is omni present and I am loving it!  Exposed shoulders are a subtle but sexy way to show a little skin. This neutral top works so well with other neutrals like black and white but could easily mix into any wardrobe by pairing it with traditional denim. For those not so great hair day a big floppy hat is a must and this one has been a pleasant surprise.  I find myself grabbing it more than I expected I would.  Its not itchy and super reasonably priced.  I'm loving this new TB bag. Big enough to hold all my items and the truck load of stuff I carry around for my two boys!!
